Hello, im not sure if anyone can help me.

I have a ST 530 from about a yr ago (Got it through Telstra Bigpond). I recently left Telstra and connected through AAPT. Shortly afterwards things went very wrong.

Firstly the smartys at Telstra have specfic Firmware that will not allow you to change any settings at all..

Recently my modem began re-initializing itself randomly. Out of the blue, it will go from fully connect, or even not connected, and begin to initialise as if it were switched off and back on again...

im not sure why or how but Im hoping someone can help me.

cheers

This sounds like the faulty capacitor syndrome. Check the posts by StingRay relating to the ST530.

Regards,
Scott

Hello Scott

im not too confident with system restting or Telnet. I just changed the IP details from AUTO to the following:
IP: 10.0.0.1
S/N: 255.255.255.0
G/W: 10.0.0.138

should I also continue and telnet the 'system reset'? Will this remove all of my previous telstra settings????

Also, once I select Yes to everything, do I only need to then put in my username and pw and it should connect automatically to AAPT???

sorry i sound like a total twit but i dont wanna bugger this up.

Yes you are on the right track but I'm afraid it isn't going to solve the reboot issue! Remove the phone line first if you are having the reboot problem.
As Scott says lots of these modems suffered poor caps. If you got from Telstra under warranty return it for a replacement. Otherwise I can show what is required for a repair. Not difficult but you need to know how to solder. Let me point out this was an issue with many brands.
